Thank You for a Successful 2011

Thanks to all of our wonderful clients, 2011 has been a wonderful year. I had work published in two International magazines, was invited to be a part of several beautiful wedding ceremonies, and was on hand for a couples’ 50th anniversary celebration. Add all that to the many commercial and editorial clients that used Photos by Rich Burkhart, and we can’t help but be grateful for all of the people we met and fun experiences we were a part of in 2011. In the past year, I have traveled from Charleston to St. Simon’s Island for assignments, worked with non-profits, Union Mission and Coastal Heritage Society on fun projects, and photographed sports ranging from Little League to College. I was given the opportunity to photograph couples’ engagement sessions and several family portraits. Amidst all of this, I found time to marry my best friend and celebrate with a honeymoon to San Francisco. It has truly been a blessed year for me and I look forward to what life has in store for Photos by Rich Burkhart in the coming year. I hope you all have a happy and blessed New Year.

Christ Church Exodus

On December 11, I had the opportunity to photograph Christ Church Anglican’s final service in the Christ Church sanctuary on Johnson Square. After a long legal battle for the property, the Anglican congregation had to turn over the property to Christ Church Episcopal. The service included a performance of Handel’s Messiah and was concluded with the blessing of a new processional cross and a prayer on the porch.

A procession of the congregation was led by a bagpiper from the steps of Christ Church to their temporary home at Independent Presbyterian Church on Bull Street.  It was an emotional walk for many who were warmly greeted outside Independent Presbyterian by the congregation and welcomed to their new home of worship.
