If Only I Had a Pink Shirt for Days Like These

While I was getting ready for work early Saturday morning, I commented to my wife; “I wish I had a pink shirt for days like these.”  Of course I was referring to the fact that I was headed out to cover the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was my second consecutive year covering the event for the newspaper front page. Thousands of participants turned out to run or walk in support of the annual event.  The highlights of the day of course, were the many cancer survivors, many of whom become quite emotional after completing the race.  The day is a celebration of those who have survived, those who are currently struggling, and the memory of those no longer here.  It is a day of hope.

Terah and Josh

This year has been full of firsts for me. Just last month, I photographed my first baby pictures and now I can say I have had my first maternity session.  Anytime I do something the first time, I research what other people have done and get an idea of what works and what doesn’t.  Taking pictures of an awesome couple like Terah and Josh certainly makes things much easier.  I took much of the same approach as I would have with an engagement session; I just had to rearrange my focal point.  A beautiful location and an amazing couple certainly helped create some wonderful memories. The only downside was the mosquitoes, which were big enough to carry off my camera equipment.
